'No camp system' - Emraan Hashmi

Ek Thi Daayan has released and the box office verdict will be out soon. The film is seeing good critical acclaim coming though. For Emraan Hashmi, who has been on a golden run, the film is nothing less than an acid test to show that his positioning in the industry as one of the most saleable star-actors is for the keeps.

Since the film has come with huge expectations, one can well expect that as an actor and a star, Emraan must have started getting used to the responsibility of stardom where there is a pressure of getting at least an opening.
Says Emraan, “It is not a pressure situation but frankly, I hope that Ek Thi Daayan scores. It’s very different, engaging and gripping. I also see a broader perspective since a lot of things come into play when it comes to the making of a film. Sometimes there is a great story on paper but it may be of not use as there is no great team to support it. Director, marketing team, promotion - everything needs to get synergized. Till that is not the case, I don't put my heart into things.”
Still, with Ekta Kapoor films though, guess he doesn't really have to worry much. Also, from Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again to The Dirty Picture and now Ek Thi Daayan, one can well say that there is a new camp which is getting built here.

“See, these are associations,” immediately comments Emraan, “When people in the industry use the word 'camp', it comes with a negative connotation. It appears to be one cess pool out there. Ekta and I have a wonderful relationship; I admire her as a producer. I like her vision and creative instinct. She is one of those people who puts her money where the mouth is. These are the kind of people I like working with. She knows when to step in and to give suggestions to the director and team. With each of our films together, we have touched a higher level.”

“I am very happy and hope that with Ek Thi Daayan, we take our association to the next level. I am doing a Dharma-Balaji co-production next, “ states Emraan before signing off.
